History of 342 Vacation Rentals
Florida is a dream vacation destination, attracting millions of people to the Sunshine State every year. An increasing number of travelers have come to appreciate the benefits of renting a vacation home.
As most owners of vacation homes live far away from their property, good local management companies were becoming increasingly sought after. This was, why Werner and Sabine Spycher, both working in the real estate business around Sarasota, founded 342 Vacation Rentals in 2018. They named their company after the first 3 digits of the zip codes of the area they served.
342 Vacation Rentals quickly established itself in the region and soon became the go-to choice for property owners looking to entrust the management of their homes to a reliable company.
In 2024, the business was handed over to Daniel and Birgit Plewka. Since then, 342 Vacation Rentals has continued to grow, such as expanding the area to include Charlotte County, optimizing processes, adding new properties and increasing booking volume. A well-equipped service van is now available for in-house repair service – well-loved by the owners as a time- and cost saving feature.
Personal Background – Our Team
We, the owner team Daniel and Birgit Plewka, moved from Thuringia in Germany to Venice Florida in 2022 with our children Emilia and Nick and our two Australian Shepherds. Our first company, Sarasota Pool Care, was founded and operated by us full-time until 2024, when we took over 342 Vacation Rentals.
Daniel brought a lot of know-how with him, as he had been self-employed in the technical field for over 25 years, e.g. repairing construction machinery, trading or transportation. His technical skills benefit the company on a daily basis. His profound knowledge of pool maintenance rounds out his expertise.
Birgit also had her own business. She successfully ran a cosmetics and nail design studio for 16 years. With her cheerful nature, she is the heart and soul of the company. She lovingly prepares each house for arriving guests and takes care, they enjoy their stay. Furthermore, she handles all organizational matters within the office
Birgit Laniewski – Birgit number 2 – joined us as Operations Manager in November 2024. As a trained banker, she supports us with the bookkeeping and financial matters and is focused in attracting new customers. Due to her fluent English, she is our number one contact person for guests and property owners.
Our Vision
We were immediately fascinated by the idea of working in a business field, that aims to contribute to the most beautiful time of the year for many people, and it was clear to us: This is the field in which we would love to work.
At 342 Vacation Rentals, we want to combine the American hospitality with the strengths of German business culture – creating a unique, reliable, and performance-driven management approach for short-term rental properties.
Our goal is to inspire Florida vacationers for our beautiful region and to be able to offer our guests a whole spectrum of great experiences.
To achieve this, we will gradually add partners to our network. Our local team will also grow. Planning for new employees is underway.
We will all have one thing in common: We love what we do. Our guests feel this just as much as the homeowners who entrust us with their wonderful homes.
